Aunt Bob is a little confused this morning. Imagine that.
Yesterday a man named Troy Davis was executed in Georgia for killing an off duty police officer in Savannah in 1989.
Now lets start with where I stand on the Death Penalty.
My friend Michael Taylor said it well on facebook the other day. I believe in the death penalty in principle. But there is way too much guess work in so many cases. Until there is a way to prove it without a doubt its a flawed punishment.
Now moving on to my dilemma. I had many facebook friends stating "Thank God" for the execution, and " A time to rejoice"
I am having trouble with people celebrating a death and thanking god. God does his own judging, not us. A life is lost weather it be good or bad the thought of celebrating it like winning the lottery or a birthday sickens me. Pray for his soul, ask God to forgive him. But woo hoo he's dead. Really??????
I agree pray for his soul, personally I think death was the easy way out he should have to live with what he did and think about it everyday for the rest of his life!
ReplyDeleteYeah I feel the same way about war too. Philosophically it may be the last recourse but it should never be something to celebrate.
